About Us
I grew up seeing my dad grind coffee in the morning, fill his French press up and sit in the living room to read and drink coffee to start the day. As a kid you look up to your parents. This routine was something I picked up on, and I figured I'd be drinking coffee one day too.
Like many of you, coffee was not something I enjoyed from the start, but I wanted to learn to like it. In my early days, it was trips to Caribou with my middle school friends for an Oreo Snowdrift pretending we were drinking coffee. In my serving days at Applebee’s, it progressed to coffee mixed with cream and sugar to give me that boost for late nights. Over time, I followed my dad’s footsteps with the French press, and truly enjoying coffee even in its purest form. I wanted to like coffee and it eventually became more than just a drink. For me, it's a warm drink during the quiet time in the morning, warmth and turbo to get the energy or creative juices going or a drink with a friend at one of the cool local coffee shops.
So why did I choose the name “Training Grounds”? This coffee is not protein packed or added with creatine (yet). I simply chose this name because it combines two things in my life that I get joy out of: Fitness and Coffee. These two things deepen relationships in my life whether it's training together, or sharing a cup of coffee, I am thankful that training and coffee are part of my life.
Does this mean I am at a point where I define notes like white birch, elderberry and a hint of dandelion? Absolutely not, but I am excited to keep learning, and I like that I can make something that I can give to others and see them enjoy it. If you like it, I learn more about the coffee world and I can find a way to give back through this process, that’s a win in my book.
